During the ceremony, Mayor HRH Dr. Peter Ikome Mesoso III was distinguished as *Best Mayor for 2025 nationwide* and recognized as the foremost Magistrate in terms of *Local Development, Patriotic Merit, and Political Movement*.
According to ACOM, represented by its Executive President and Board of Directors, the Mayor scored *54 out of 55 votes* from communication practitioners across the Sub-Saharan African Region.
HRH Dr. Mesoso III, the *21st recipient in the Sub-Saharan Region*, received the *Grand Prize for African Excellence* and also bagged the *Pan African Prize Award*.
He was voted on based on three criteria:
1. *Local Development* – for tangible results on the ground
2. *Political Know-how* – described as exemplary
3. *Patriotism* – noted to be at its peak in his service delivery
It should be noted that this prestigious award has previously been received by Ministers, Ambassadors, SDOs, DOs, and other prominent personalities.
The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Divisional Officer for Tiko and his entourage, Traditional Authorities of Tiko Subdivision, the four Deputy Mayors of Tiko Council – to whom the Mayor dedicated the award – staff of Tiko Council, Zonal Chairpersons, Members of Onbe Old Students Association, OOSA, and other dignitaries.
